Monday June 5, 2023, 63 miles (101 km) - Total so far: 63 miles (101 km)

Today’s route: We chose not to follow the ACA route on HW30 from Astoria to Portland and decided to ride a slightly longer but less trafficked route following 202. After coffee, we faced a brief, but very, very steep climb out of Astoria. Good thing we had two cups of ☕️! After some rolling hills, we were confronted with our second challenge of the day - an 8 mile climb beginning around mile 12.

Weather: The weather conditions were perfect - what we call a summer Maine day - sunny and 75! 🌞

Riding conditions/traffic: Traffic was very light - mostly pickup trucks and a few timber trucks. The timber trucks were very large and passed at high speed but always provided us with plenty of clearance.

Ready to go after a great stay at Hotel Elliott!
