2,501 miles so far
Today’s ride to Hayward took us mostly on quiet roads over many hills and beside many lakes. We’ve learned that while Minnesota is the land of “10,000 lakes,” Wisconsin actually has more lakes with over 15,000!
The skies were sunny and temperatures were cooler which was nice. However, we did battle a steady headwind most of the day.
We stopped in Hauger for brunch at Lona’s Corner Cafe which would hold us over until dinner. We also stopped at the Village Grocery for extra water and talked to the owner. She said she sees lots of cyclists riding across the country and asked us to share our story in a book she kept close by. Sharon decided to share it…in order to keep it brief!
We arrived in Hayward which has a very nice downtown Main Street. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Main Street Tacos which was very good but offered portions which were twice what we were expecting! Oh well, more fuel for tomorrow.
We also stopped for a glass of wine at Three Sisters Flyfishing Wine Bar which was very cool and, as you might have guessed, has a flyfishing themed decor.
We then settled into another AmericInn for the night.

Well, we need to get out more often. We love Main Street Tacos in Hayward, but had never heard of the 3 Fly Sisters wine bar! Had to “Google” and with some relief found that it was newly opened in February, so we’re only 6 months behind. Kristin & Jeff, Clam Lake
